NITI Aayog’s AI Policy: Building India’s AI Future
The Government of India, through NITI Aayog, introduced the National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence to guide India’s journey as a global AI leader. This policy, also known as “#AIForAll”, emphasizes inclusive growth, ethics, and AI applications that solve real problems in Indian society.
The strategy identifies five core sectors for AI deployment: healthcare, agriculture, education, smart mobility, and infrastructure. It also addresses challenges like data access, lack of skilled workforce, and need for AI research centers.
NITI Aayog proposes creating centers of excellence, a national AI marketplace, and international collaborations to advance AI research. A strong emphasis is placed on responsible AI, ensuring fairness, transparency, and privacy in AI systems.
This policy has led to the creation of IndiaAI, pilot projects, and public-private partnerships that are now shaping India’s digital future. As AI adoption grows, NITI Aayog’s roadmap continues to serve as the backbone of India’s AI ecosystem.
